Beef Quality Assurance Must Not Be Threatened
Chairman *Michael Kilcoyne commented that “We ourselves have for years tracked prices of products purportedly ‘protected’ by the Order and seen them increase by 10%, 20% and even 30% - unacceptable and unaffordable levels of increase for any consumer!”
Chief Executive, **Dermott Jewell welcomed the decision stating that “Irish Consumers can celebrate the lifting of this Order which has had the effect of denying them realistic prices and effective competition at a time when it has been most urgently required. Understandably, consumers have been confused by the barrage of misleading comment in the run up to this decision.
We look forward to working with the Minister towards ensuring a better regulatory system and an effective and efficient one which has the benefit of the consumer and not the retailer at it’s heart.
